The Vision

The vision for Waterford North Quays aligns with the predicted growth of the region and will:
  • Create a sustainable, compact extension to the City Centre that will serve a future population of 83,000 people;
  • Act as regeneration catalyst for the City and Region and establish a sustainable modern City quarter;
  • Develop an integrated multi-modal transport hub designed to sustainably meet the access requirement of the City;
  • Build on the context and the riverside location of the site and set up a high quality urban quarter as a natural extension to the City Centre.

NORTH QUAYS will contribute to transform Waterford into a smart sustainable city by using information and communication technologies (ICTs) and other means to improve quality of life, efficiency of urban operation and services, and competitiveness, while ensuring that it meets the needs of present and future generations with respect to economic, social, environmental as well as cultural aspects.
